MODFOX M3 – Subsea Workover Control System (SWOCS)

MODFOX M3 integrates all MODFOX capabilities into a multi-modular, independent subsea control system, offering a highly adaptable solution for complex subsea interventions.
This configuration is ideal when a single WROV is available, enabling simultaneous operations while the vessel conducts intervention and workover activities.
Frequently deployed from drilling rigs for workover, commissioning, or plug & abandonment (P&A) tasks, MODFOX M3 is a preferred industry solution.
Integrated Control System
The MODFOX M3 system configuration includes:
- Self-supported lightweight open-water umbilical
- Umbilical winch and overboard sheeve.
- Optional topside control container
This setup ensures reliable electrohydraulic power and communication, delivering full system control for a seamless operation.
MODFOX M3 is equipped with electric pumps, powered through the open-water umbilical. In case of power failure, MODFOX M3 ensures uninterrupted operations as an ROV can override the system via hydraulic or electric flying leads, (M2) either continuing the operation or securing the system.
MODFOX SWOCS Winch System
(ATEX Zone 1)
The MODFOX ATEX Zone 1 winch system is a lightweight, self-supported open-water umbilical and reel setup, delivering reliable electrohydraulic power through:
- Three-phase 990VAC for up to 750-meter net umbilical or 3000VAC for 3200-meter net umbilical for the electrohydraulic pumps
- 990VAC Gateway Power
- Redundant single-mode fiber optics
- Twisted-pair copper conductors for older Xmas Tree communication systems
- ATEX-certified winch and optional control container for safe topside operations
At the subsea end, the Umbilical Termination Head (UTH) includes power transformers and fiber media converters, distributing power and communication signals via dedicated electrical flying leads (EFLs).
The Technical Data
- Enables independent system operation without reliance on WROV for COMS and power.
- Reinforced, self-supported 25 mm umbilical.
- Contains 12 single-mode (SM) fiber elements for communication.
- Copper conductors rated for up to 3kV power transmission.
- Supplies 2x990VAC or 2×3000VAC 3-phase power for electric motors driving hydraulic pumps.
